Being an active home owner is very important. Things can change in a split second. You want to check for any damage or leaks so that continued damage doesn’t occur.
What does being an Active Home Owner look like?
- Walk around the exterior of your house after a weather event to look for exterior structural damage
- If you have a lower level that you don’t go to daily take a moment every other day or again after a rain event to walk around the inside of the foundation looking to see if any water has entered
- Go into your utility spaces and check the piping to your water heater and water softener for any leaks
- Lift the float on the sump to make sure that it engages weekly
- Open cabinet doors and look inside and check water fitting connections to make sure that they are not leaking affecting the interior of the cabinet.
- Clean out dryer vent lines twice a year to clear lint
All of these actions are important as in todays society we have very busy daily lives. It is invaluable to prevent damage before it occurs or gets worse. Most leaks can be caught in the early stages before they cause excessive damage.
