Earth Day Group Walk (3:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
Join Iowa’s Walking Club as they walk around Gray’s Lake and through the tunnel into Water Works Park. Enjoy this peaceful walk as you catch sight of the downtown skyline, two bridges, and the amphitheater in Water Works Park.
Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden
Earth Day Story Sprouts (10:30 am - 11:15 am)
Join Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden for interactive storytime for children ages 2 to 5 exploring nature and plants.
Community Partner Activities: (10:00 am - 4:00 pm)
Learn about different water-related topics from community partner activities and demonstrations.
Upcycled Planters Demonstration: Water how volunteers turned different containers into planters.
OTHER ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: Plant Highlights, Scavenger Hunt, Water Droplets, Garden Commons, and a Rain Campaign Sculptures
Stewards as Brown’s Wood: Restore Native Habitat & Woodlands (10:00 am - 12:00 pm)
Spend your morning removing invasive species to restore native woodland habitat at Brown's Woods Park. Volunteers will be taught how to identify invasive species, the proper techniques to remove them, and the resulting benefits of this important conservation work.
